As a home-rule town, Monument, Colorado is now self-collecting sales taxes for filing periods beginning in January 2025. Monument sales taxes is reportable in the Monument Portal  separately from the Colorado Department of Revenue returns.

Registered businesses should have received a letter from Monument in February 2025 notifying them of a new 6-digit account number and a 6-digit activation code. Taxpayers with a filing obligation in Monument are required to create a new account on the Monument Portal using the associated account number and code.

Take Action

If you are using automation software, make sure MONUMENT is added to the places where you collect tax. Also, watch for an email and/or snail mail for a Registration Letter tailored to your business with a 6-digit Monument Account Number (or GovOS account number) and a 6-digit Activation Code. Monument filers need to confirm account details to receive their registration information.

If you did not receive a Registration Letter, contact GovOS at blt.str.support@govos.com or by phone at (888) 751-1911 for assistance. Businesses with filing obligations and remittance liabilities for past periods can reach out to your TaxOps Advisor, sales tax automation software provider or refer to the Town of Monument Taxation website Town of Monument Taxation website.
